I went to the Sedgwick County Zoo last night to check out Robert Cray as their summer concert series featured performer . He was fantastic and tons of people showed up to watch his hour and a half set. I was able to get these images before the camera police showed up to tell everyone that cameras were not allowed. I’m assuming it was in Roberts contract that photos were only allowed during his first song and that’s it. Either way, I like the images I was able to walk away with. Here are some of my faves…

Photographing Kelsey was so much fun, she has such a huge range of expressions and just loves to laugh! She was in town visiting family and her mother thought it would be fun to have her pics taken in Wichita since they used to live here. We met up in Old Town and shot in various areas, trying not to get run over as the streets seemed extra busy that night. My favorite image that I think captures the fun in Kelsey is the last one posted here. Here are a handful of images from the shoot…

Here are some fun images of young Kenny D’s photo session yesterday. As you can see in the images below, Kenny seemed really excited about his photoshoot. Here are some fun images from his shoot.

disclaimer: Kenny is not a senior but my good friend Ken Davis. We went to Eastborough Park to mess around with our flashes for some good practice

I recently traveled to Emporia, KS to photograph Daniel’s senior pictures at an area outside of Emporia called Camp Alexander. Daniel is the youngest son to my cousin Lisa and he is very much into scouting, music and his dog – Goddard. I was excited to see that Daniel was a “Chucks” fan as he sported a bright red pair for the shoot. Here are just a few images from his photosession…

I recently met Tori and her parents at Riverside park for some fun portraits. Tori is an aspiring model and they asked me to shoot some fun candids of Tori as well any that she could use on a new comp card. We took a lap around the park and I think we came away with some really fun stuff. Here are a handful from Tori’s shoot…

Here are some images I took for my friend Scott of his bar – Blu Nightclub. He wanted some images to put on his website and to show the ambiance off as much as possible. The one way I chose to pull these shots off was to use a tripod with a hand held shutter release and a 30 second exposure to soak up all the available light. Here are a handful of shots from that shoot…

Here’s a handful of images I shot for the latest issue of Womens Focus magazine. The cover features the doctors Dr. Sharon Breit and Dr. Karen Strecker of the Center for Womens Health. They were photographed at their office which is located on North Webb Road.
The last image is of Don Overstake of Margaritas Cantina for the “In Her Shoes” article. He was a great sport as his staff stood around to watch the photoshoot.

I just finished up a shoot with a senior when I noticed the rays of sunshine coming over the buildings in Old Town. My first thought was how high up can I go to get a shot of this? So I went up to the top of the Warren Theater Parking Garage since it was close to where I was. I still wasn’t high enough due to a train going by that was cutting off the buildings in the lower portion of the photo. Despite the weird looks from the other sightseers, I climbed to the top of my Jeep and shot from up there. My focus was to line up the rays with the steeples in the lower portion of the photo. Works for me… Enjoy!

After talking with a couple of local photographers at lunch the other day I thought it would be fun to try out an idea we were talking about: what would happen if we tied disposable cameras to park benches in Old Town? I wonder what kind of pictures we would get? So with the help of my friend Ken, we set out 4 disposable cameras, tied to benches in different parts of Old Town. Ken shot these of me setting up:

I put the cameras out at 7pm and returned at 3am to pick them up. Only 1 camera was found as the rest had been taken. Keep in mind that I used Walgreen cheapies and one Poloroid for this project so it’s not like they were very valuable. I was pretty bummed but I did notice that there had been a a couple of shots taken with the surviving camera. So not to let any film go to waste I went on a photowalk of downtown with the remaining disposable camera to see what kind of shots I would get. A couple of things I discovered… 1) the last two images didn’t turn out. Not sure if that’s a nature of the beast for a disposable camera. 2) Lining up a shot thru the eye piece for proper composition does not translate well thru to the lens. You can definitely see that in the shot I took on the walking bridge over Kellogg. All in all it was fun and I’ll try to do it again.

Today I thought I’d go see where Maggie has been hanging out while she’s outside since my AC is out at my house. With a little searching I found her in an old flowerbed that I don’t use anymore. Laying in the dirt is not my style but I have to admit it was a very cool place to chill… away from the sun.
